In Abuja, FCTA Introduces 15 High-Capacity Buses with Advanced Features for Safe Commuting

Recently unveiled by the federal capital territory administration (FCTA) are 15 high-capacity buses equipped with air conditioning and Wi-Fi, designed to provide a secure mode of transportation for residents travelling across different areas of the city.

These buses, a result of a public-private partnership initiative, will utilize digital payment systems to prevent corruption and ensure passenger safety through real-time surveillance.

During the launch event held at Eagle Square, Uboku Nyah, the FCT mandate secretary for transportation, expressed the administration's vision for a city where transportation is seamless.

Nyah outlined that under the "Transport For All" (TFA) project, the FCT is committed to offering secure, convenient, and affordable transportation options for all Nigerians.

Director of TFA, Yakubu Terry, emphasized that the project aims to use technology to improve public transportation services in Abuja.

Terry stated, "Our focus is not solely on increasing the number of buses in operation but on establishing a comprehensive and easily accessible transportation network that meets the diverse requirements of our community. We will prioritize profitable routes, deploy technology to streamline routes, minimize waiting times, and enhance the overall travel experience. In our pursuit of efficiency, we are introducing state-of-the-art digital payment solutions."

He further highlighted the importance of digital transactions in ensuring financial transparency, reinforcing audit trails, and fostering trust among passengers by implementing clear fare structures. This approach significantly reduces the risks associated with revenue loss or mishandling of cash transactions.

Moreover, Terry underscored the importance of making the transport sector appealing to attract potential investors into the industry.
